When we tried to compile a Stored Procedure (on a Windows XP machine) running Teradata Express Demo 12.0, I got below error.

Failure 5862: C/C++ compiler is not installed.

What is the lightest version (just compiler & linker) available? Will it be a simple download/install from Microsoft website or any changes required with registry settings?

For UNIX MP-RAS, I believe the compiler comes default on all nodes. Is that correct?
