I must admit that I have not tried to use the banner since it was changed from a regular application to a service. Depending on how the service
is executed (System or User, userid , etc) I guess there is a good chance that it will not display on your monitor.
If you simply wanted to make sure the alert is being raised you could set it up to email yourself - since eventually you want it to send an
email anyway.
