You need to mention the format of the timestamp

     cast('3999-12-31 00:00:00.0000' format 'YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS.NNNN')  -
     cast('2008-06-25 16:23:15' format 'YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS')
