Import simply submits the entire query once for each record in the import file.

This does not have to be an Insert/Update statement, it can be any statement including things like Select, Create User, or Collect Statistics, etc.

With the exception of Insert, Update, Delete the query can only contain one statement anyway when you are using Import.
