Michael - I totally agree with you on giving lots of options. The fun thing about SQL is there are just so many ways to skin whatever cat you have. Of course, that can also be the least fun thing.

(And I kinda, sorta disagree with at least one thing I wrote - I always feel a little unclean after using a cross join. It works, but it just feels kind of wrong given how careful I usually have to be to avoid them.)
