Thanks for the suggestions.

I have looked at the v2r6 FIFO (QUEUE) table option and it seems more geared towards events processing. In my scenario the staging tables (there will be about 40 such tables) are produced by an external ETL application in batch mode. The update processing will be an end of day batch update to target tables. Any examples of their use in this situation would be greatly appreciated.
