My suggestion (not the fastest one) was to update the target table multiple times until all rows have bene accounted for. So if you sort the
staging table by timestamp and pick up the min into a work table and then use that to update the base tables and mark the updated rows as
processed in the stage table. Delete the work table.
Next time around only looking at records which are not processed and repeat the above step.
