Anom,

You could sent out alerts to an email address or beaper when the threshold hits.

I had developed a stored procedure in past which dynamically move data depending on the threshold value. It even considers skewness of the database and gets the minimum required to move the space.

I have not used the stored procedure for a while, you may want to check for symantics or build on top of this.
