I have 2 questions regarding views:

1. Why does Teradata recommend having views in a separate database than the tables and let end users have access to the views instead of the tables?

2. What is the usual locking mechanism of defining views. I usually use LOCKING FOR ACCESS MODE. I have heard from some people that it is best to do a row level locking. Any suggestions?
