Most of the diagnostic commands are meant to be used by NCR support personnel, so they are not documented in the manuals. There are a few documented in the Target Level Emulation section of the utilties manual regarding setting of costs.

The one I find most useful is one that you can run immediately prior to an explain statement. It shows you the statistics that the optimizer is looking for in trying to solve the query. The format is:

     diagnostic helpstats on for session;
     explain  ;
