Is collecting statistics on DBC tables recommended?

I am interested in certain tables we are using for certain system maintenance applications, but are there certain tables that are always a good idea to have stats? and then are there some tables that we should be cautious about when collecting stats?

Anyone already collecting stats on DBC tables (V2R6.1.1)?
