Hi All,

I am a newbie in Teradata. I have installed teradata 6.1 on my pc hosting windows XP with SP2. When I am trying to connect to BTEQ or Teradata Manager, I am getting the error like "Not in hosts file or in names database" error number 224. However my hosts files has got an entry like :

     127.0.0.1    abc

when i googled the error , it says names DBC/1012 is missing (not the exact error).

I tried finding any document on how to configure teradata on standalone system like on a home pc which is not in network but of no luck.

I went through a thread posted in the forum

and changed my hosts file to look like :

     127.0.0.1 tanvicop1

then i opened BTEQ session and tried connecting using following command:

     .logon tanvicop1/dbc,dbc

but got the same error. any idea???
