One possible solution would be to use the Oracle-equivalent user defined function (UDF) called o_translate to convert all accent characters to their non-accented equivalents.

For example:

     Select otranslate('r?sum?','???????','eeeeiii');

or

     Select sysdba.otranslate('r?sum?','???????','eeeeiii');

You would first have to install the oracle-equivalent UDF's (available from Teradata).

The Oracle UDFs can be found on the Teradata website:

www.teradata.com

Also note that users will not have privileges to execute these functions by default.
