Subj:   How to dump all object definitions in a database

From:   kaare.wehn

Hi

I need a query that returns all object definition in a database (tables, view, macros, procedures). I have solved this by creating an external application that executes SHOW TABLE/VIEW/MACRO/PROCEDURE on all the objects. It works, but it takes a long time.

I have also checked out TVM.CreateText and this field would be a great way to dump a database, but it's not complete:

1. Only views and macros have a complete definition in CreateText.

2. Tables have NULL in CreateText.

3. Procedure definitions are stored in a non-readable format.

The information I'm requesting is certainly present in the database (SHOW TABLE etc.) but it's not accessible from a query. Or is it? If there's a secret feature somewhere, please let me know.

Thank you for a great web site!
