Hi

The time taken for the collects stats statement sounds excessive to me (I assume that the 11 hours is for one statement).

1. I would suggest that you check is the table skewed.

2. When the cron job is running, is the job being blocked by anything such as locks?

3. How many columns have stats collected?

4. This may be a heresy, do you need all of these stats?

This response is not a solution, but hopefully it will point you in the right direction.
