Hi,

there are good reasons for that.

1.) Many implementations have 1:1 Views with some locking modifiers to minimize unnecessary locks.

2.) A "replace view" is a transaction. You can easily modify underlying data while moving views to different versions of tables, thus delivering better data availability.
