Subj:   Re: OLAP Function MAX with VARCHAR issue

From:   Munipandian, Madhan Kumar

Hi Dieter,

We are working in 3NF FSLDM Model with huge volume of data, so in many situations we need to convert rows into columns,.

Which will be advisable to use GROUP BY OR OLAP FUNCTION?

I read from teradata reference manual that OLAP function will be faster then GROUP BY statement always, because of this we are using OLAP FUNCTION To convert rows into columns. But the query is working fine when we were using INTEGER/DECIMAL field instead of CHAR/VARCHAR (Error: 3617: Format 99999999999E999 does not match the data type)

If required I will send with tables data and full Query.

Thx in Advance Dieter

Madhan M
