Folks,

Does anyone know why the following SQL fails (or does it work on your system?):

     sel cast (cast ('-.000219999696128070354' as varchar(60)) as decimal(18,4));

This is not an academic question, we are trying to Fastload this value into a Decimal (18,4) column, but get error 2679. What's weird is that if you take off that last digit (4), then it works.

Oh, standard ETL exclusions apply: data received from 3rd party, we have no control over source data format.

Any suggestions are appreciated.
