Subj:   Re: Beta Test Invitation from Ward Analytics

From:   McBride, Michael

Your point is noted, John, but it just seems that an announcement regarding a specific vendors product for beta-testing purposes might be perceived by some as a vendor/product endorsement, something forbidden by the preceding paragraph entitled:

The Promotion or Recommendation of Products or Services
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Postings that contain marketing, solicitation or promotional material for products/services are not welcome on the Teradata Forum and should not be sent. Although it's understood that you're trying to help, please don't suggest or recommend products/services. --------------------------------------------------------------------------

I definitely see the distinction being made within the context of the policy using the "letter of the law" vs. the "intent of the law". But really, considering how I was busted just merely mentioning someone who writes educational material for Teradata Professionals and wasn't even promoting them... sorta seems to follow the same kinda logic, don't you think?

Well, I guess that's why there is a forum moderator to make such fine distinctions of the law (policy).

I appreciate the clarification!

Michael E. McBride, MSCIS
