1 ) Access to a partition should be a single AMP operation.

2 ) TD uses hashing to distribute data to disk storage and this hashing is done by the primary index values which decides where, a particular row would reside.

Because of the above to reasons, it makes sense to have partitioning column in the index.

Correct me if I am wrong
