Charles,

I am in complete agreement with you. In addition to what you have mentioned I would like to add one more point. If multiple users fires queries simultaneously then none of them will be finished soon and all the resources will be allocated to the first user who ran the query. Sometimes this can lead to a deadlock with queries fighting for resources/spool space etc.
