i have the following insert:

     insert db.table1
     phone_num (format '--z(15)9') (char(20))
     from db.table2;

table1.phone_num is defined as decimal(12.0) and table2.phone_num is decimal(15.0).

can somebody explain what is this format conversion for and what it does? thanks
