I am running BTEQ on the mainframe. I want to use CAST, or similar function, to output the results in a readable char format.

My statement attempt is:

     cast(cast(position ('cessation' in sh.tobacco_comment) as cess1)
                                 as char(03)),

Any clues or corrections would be appreciated.
