I am facing a problem with DECIMALS !!!!

I have a table that as a column COLA, DECIMAL(11,8). A view sits on top of it, that has COLA casted to a DECIMAL(5,4). I get Numeric overlow errors. I guess it is becasue of range violation, but am not sure. The data is 9.99999999 with negative values sprinkled in.

How do I get around it ?.
