Use the alert Policy Editor to change the 'Rates' (use the Rates tab). If you are not using the Alerting system at all change the first 2 rates to 3600 and then use the Apply menu to apply this change to your DBS.

This will cause the service to check only once an hour. (You could set the values to 0 to prevent it from checking at all ... but if you later want to switch alerting on you would have to restart the service before it would realize that you had changed the rates.)
