last time we had bad performance on asf2 it turned out to be memory and semiphores that were not being released by the other jobs. some one
wrote a quick and dirty ksh to release them and we scheduled it using cron i think. i assume you have looked at locking logger and that your
target tables are free of locks. are you backing up a lot of little tables... this sometimes causes some issues with response time.
