Where I work now, people have created and are creating many very long and complex SQLs with very many joins.

Without exception, there is no documentation within these SQLs - not what the SQL is trying to do not why various tables were joined and why, not why certain restrictions were set up not anything else.

What do other shops do in regard to documentation of this sort?
