Teradata normally does all work before changing the data attribute in parentheses.

try something like this:

     SELECT trim((0.19 (FORMAT '$zzz9.99')(CHAR(10))) ||'-'|| trim((90.99 (FORMAT '$zzz9.99') (CHAR(10))))
