How do we get the character set information for each column with out querying dbc.columns?

Eg

USING CLIV2

I request the prepinfo parcel for the following query

     "Sel t1.col1 , t2.col2
        from table1 t1, table2  t2".

The prepinfo parcel will have the following information for each column in resultant set. Will I be able to get in this parcel info?

     DataType:      2 bytes SmallInt
     DataLen:       2 bytes SmallInt
     ColumnName:    2 to 32 bytes VarChar
     ColumnFormat:  2 to 32 bytes VarChar     what information is available here???
     ColumnTitle:   2 to 62 bytes VarChar
