I am sure there are a lot better options, but here's my 2 cents:
At one point I was designing an ASP program to query Teradata. If you left the web-page up on your computer, it would automatically check
Teradata at a pre-set time (I think I was shooting for 2 minutes), and if it found something it didn't like, it would send off an e-mail using
SMTP.
