What application is returning the error with column number instead of column name?

When I get a 2621 error using either qman or bteq I get the columnname.

For example:

     select cast(sid_desc as byteint) from  mprodv.v_fcc_sid_ref ;
      *** Failure 2621 Bad character in format or data of fcc_sid_ref.SID_Desc.
                     Statement# 1, Info =0
      *** Total elapsed time was 11 seconds.
