I would definitely stay away from the extra step of export/import. Not only does it take longer but you increase chances of errors creeping in.

Have you considered using a join index? Not sure if it will work for you but it may serve your purpose without duplicating "huge data volume". You can use the Teradata Database Design manuals as a reference.
