EX1 - Advantage:

No space overhead.

EX1 - DisAdvantage:

PI may not be usable as one needs to specify all the columns of a multi-col PI in a where condition so that a PI (Single-AMP) access mechanism is adopted for retreives & joins on the table.

EX2 - DisAdvantage:

Secondary Index - maintenace & space overhead.

EX2 - Advantage:

PI of 2 or 3 cols will be usable in joins.

You need to analyse w.r.t these constraints.

If you have bulk jobs which need a lot of index maintenance then EX1 will be useful but at the same time it will make the UPI un- usable.
