Hi,

Join Index physically store on the Teradata. Main purpose of Join index is base table not read when some query execute. That mean join index should covered that query.

Collecting stats on join index column is for above case.

Collecting stats for base table is help in creating join index and rebuilding it in less time.

That's my thought..
