Function indexes do not exist in Teradata as yet.

Just a thought (I haven't played with them yet), could Sparse Single Table Join Indices satisfy this. Warning: Archive/REstore does not handle tables with Join Indices well. When you restore the table, it is in an unstable state. That is a whole differnet story.
