I'm sure that I'm just one of many that would like to see a code sample of what a UDF will look like - with the obvious understanding that it's just an example.

I don't want to sound too critical, but without some kind of substance, UDFs are nothing more than vapourware. I guess that I would take the position that if we can't have some kind of example or details, I just as soon not hear about UDFs.
