The 'pseudolock' operation is used to prevent deadlocks between sessions when attempting 'real' write locks. It operates over the table header on all the AMPs. This is necessary because of the parallel architecture, where one session can try to lock record A in AMP X and then record B in AMP Y while other session is doing the same operations in reverse order.
