Subj:   Re: How to increase Multi load Load speed

From:   Fred W Pluebell

Where does the data reside? How is that "client" platform connected to your Teradata system?

If you're moving 70GB of data, you may be limited mostly by network bandwidth.

To address your questions, assuming bandwidth was not an issue:

1) Running separate MultiLoad for each table should be faster than combining unrelated loads into a single step, if for no other reason than being able to read multiple input flat files in parallel.

2) More sessions can speed up the acquisition phase; but with 8 sessions on a 2-node 16-AMP system you're probably past a point of diminishing returns already.

3) Less frequent checkpoints would also help a little, but the current 200 checkpoints per file should only be adding a few minutes to your elapsed time.
