This is a bug. My system returns the correct result:

Mode Plant Countx
M1       P1       1
M2       P2       2

There's a Tech Alert from a couple years ago documenting a similar problem in V2R4.0.1 prior to PTDBMS 04.00.01.17. Report this problem to NCR if you are running a version that's still supported, otherwise consider upgrading to a later PTDBMS EFix level or later version.
