There's no real impact for syntax errors (other than those that cause restarts). Syntax errors generally get no further than the Parsing Engine (PE) and therefore create no work for the AMPs. Some syntax errors might cause a snap-dump and even those will have no more than a very minimal impact on the system while the dump is being written to disk.
