If you are running V2R4.0 or later, Reconfig is faster at doing the indexes than you can achieve with scripts and running it yourself. If on a release prior to V2R4, then it is better to drop indexes. If you drop and recreate, make sure to collect stats afterward on each of the newly created indexes.
