I believe you cannot compress a TIME column. DATE can be with a COMPRESS (DATE '.....') keyword.

The list of compressable types, as per the manual, does not include TIME maybe because a TIME record is made up of 3 different fields and is not one single field and is not considered to be a NUMERIC or a CHAR field.
