What tool/program are you using to issue this command?

The following works using bteq against v2r4.0 and v2r4.1 systems--

alter table t100
    add new_column date format 'yyyy-mm-dd' default date '2002-10-31';

However the same syntax fails if issued using Queryman 5.1 using the 2.8.1 odbc driver. Now I know that both of those software releases are a little bit old, but (apart from this) I haven't found any problems. Interestingly, the error I get is a 'normal' syntax error (3706) and not the 3630 that you get.
