What the optomiser is doing is correct. There is no link between the two ViewDim views. You could have data in the multidim table like:

MultiDim
ColA      x1       x2
ColA1     purple   green
ColA2     .        .
ColA3     .        .
ColB      y1       y2
ColB1     tiger    elephant
ColB2     .        .
ColB3     .        .

If there is a row on the basefact table with colA=x1 colB=y2 then the row will be returned, even though there isn't a purple elephant row on the multidim table.
