We currenty store debit card numbers just like our credit card numbers in a column of DECIMAL(18,0). I just heard that a new
national standard for debit card numbers will increase the length to 24 digits. Teradata has no way of storing a number of that
length that I am aware of, so it looks like a conversion to CHAR(24) or VARCHAR(24) is eminent.
How is your company storing debit card numbers? Does NCR have any plans to increase the maximum digits of a decimal again?
