The real question regarding WinCLI vs. ODBC is: How many tool vendors out there in the Tool World (fighting the Tool Wars) support
WinCLI? (or for that matter any other DBMS vendor's proprietary CLI interface). Like it or not, ODBC has become the 'standard' they
all work to these days.
Having used other RDBMS's ODBC interfaces to their databases, the Teradata ODBC is one of the faster implementations and easiest
to set up (not said as a Teradata employee, but as a database practitioner having to interface to different DBMS's). As others have
pointed out, you should look at your setting (by DNS entry) and see if you can increase buffer size, and change other options to suit
your particular connection.
