Conrad,

I think the following will work:

- in the LAYOUT section code your FIELD as
     .FIELD  inputfieldname    *   INTEGER

- under the DML LABEL use (for instance)
    INSERT INTO table-x
     VALUES (:inputfieldname     (DATE, FORMAT  'YYYYDDD')

Give it a go.
