1. A couple of folks have inquired about a native OLE DB provider...if there is enough interest, I might take a stab at porting
some of my stuff to an OLEDB provider. But before I get serious about it, I was wondering what specific difficulties people are
encountering with OLE DB for ODBC? What sort of features would be desirable for a native provider that the ODBC version doesn't
provide? (offhand I can only think of summarized SELECT support... maybe updatable cursors?)
BTW: If I'm not mistaken, the previous post about an OLEDB provider being available wasn't strictly correct...the OLE DB Access
Module is a different tool mostly for ETL (hence the FLOAD/FEXP/MLOAD i/f's)...I don't think you could plug the access module as is
into, say, SQLServer and get intelligible info out of it...are my assumptions correct?
2. I was curious as to how many people are planning to attend the upcoming West Coast TUG meeting? Are these events mostly
marketing shows, or does real knowledge transfer occur?

Dean Arnold
