Does anyone know whether there is a problem with running multiple quantile statements in the same SELECT

the following SQL runs (Teradata V2R4) but does encounter a deadlock error intermittently before finally resolving itself :

insert into temptable
select
customer_key
,quantile(5, total_sales_value)
,quantile(3, visits_in_store)

is the only way round this problem to have two inserts?
