| Subj: | | Mainframe Backups Taking Too Long |
| |
| From: | | Yonina Schuchman |
We have a 4 node 5200 with one TDP (2 IFPs) connection to the mainframe. We currently backup our production databases to Magstar
high speed tape drives on the MF, running up to 6 arcmains concurrently. When the backups run, the MVS jobs consume up to 80% of the
MF CPU.
The backups are taking longer and longer to finish (more data, more MF production jobs), preventing other MF jobs from using the
tape drives. Could we get better throughput by putting in another TDP connection?
Have any of you tackled this problem?
Thank you,
